Oral Surgery

Dentist in Chelmsford

Our skilled dentists ensure your overall oral health is maintained, however some situations can arise which need the abilities of an oral surgeon.

Wisdom teeth

Impacted wisdom teeth may sometimes present discomfort. This occurs when the tooth is unable to break fully through the gum due to being trapped against adjoining teeth. Very often this causes inflammation and infections which may make it necessary to remove the tooth.

As wisdom teeth may be more intricate to remove than other teeth, it may be necessary to see our oral surgeon at Goodleigh Dental Practice to perform this procedure.

Extraction of teeth is the most prominent form of oral surgery. This might occur if:

  • Teeth are partially erupted
  • Pain due to unrestorable teeth via decay, trauma or fracture.
  • Orthodontic extractions requested by an orthodontist as part of a treatment plan.
  • Teeth which have failed to erupt and are causing cystic changes to themselves or causing problems with adjacent teeth.

TMJ Disorders

TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorders are a common problem in the population. This may simply cause the patient discomfort when chewing, but may also cause problems with their bite. By diagnosing and treating this problem, many potential future dental problems may be avoided.

At our Chelmsford dental practice, we are proud to have the service of Dr Amar Kanzaria who is able to offer his skills to local patients in need of these services.

Naturally, a full consultation will be needed in order to diagnose the problem before any procedure may take place.
